All Abilities Kids Storytime

January 19, 2018

Red Hook Public Library’s All Abilities Kids Storytime continues in January with two dates: Fridays January 5 and 19 at 10:30 AM in the library’s Community Room. Inspired by sensory storytimes at libraries and schools across the country, All Abilities Kids Storytime features stories told through multiple modalities with optional interactive elements. Using a visual schedule, we will have a story and craft, as well as movement and song activities.

As parents and caregivers are the best judges of their children’s interests and abilities, All Abilities Kids has no age restrictions.  While both sessions are designed to make storytime accessible to children with neuro-developmental difficulty and/or cognitive disabilities, the story shared at the first session each month will be at a preschool level, and the story shared at the second session each month will be at a lower elementary level. The third-floor Community Room offers a quiet environment with reduced sensory stimuli.

This program is free and open to the public with advanced registration required as space is limited. As at all RHPL Storytimes, every child must have a parent or caregiver in attendance.  If you’ve been hesitant to try story time with your child, give All Abilities Kids a try.  For more information or to ask questions, ask to speak to Amy when you call the library at 845-758-3241.
