Interactive Fiction

March 26, 2018

Interactive Fiction club is back! Designed for prospective writers and game developers, this club meets weekly at 3:30 PM on Mondays.

“Interactive fiction” is a wide genre that blurs the line between literature and video games, encompassing any piece of text fiction where the reader is able to influence the story.  Visual novels, HTML fiction, and “choose your own adventure” playbooks all count!

The IF Workshop will feature a selection of short IF pieces each session for participants to engage with and draw inspiration from, then provide a space for them discuss the medium and work on projects of their own.  Instruction in Twine and Quest (two development platforms which have made writing IF much more accessible to non- and novice coders) will be available to anyone who wants to bring their ideas to digital life.

As with all library programs, the Interactive Fiction Workshop is free and open to the public.  Instruction and discussion will be geared towards new writers, but experienced participants are also welcome to come and share their expertise. Teens and young creators are welcome!
