All Abilities Kids Storytime

June 29, 2018

Red Hook Public Library’s All Abilities Kids Storytime continues in June at 10:30 AM on Fridays June 1 and 15 in the library’s Community Room.

Inspired by sensory storytimes at libraries and schools across the country, All Abilities Kids Storytime is adaptive with stories told through multiple modalities and optional interactive elements. Using a visual schedule, we will have a story and craft, as well as movement and song activities.

As parents and caregivers are the best judges of their children’s interests and abilities, All Abilities Kids is open to anyone under 18. While both sessions are designed to make storytime accessible to children with neurodevelopmental difficulty and/or cognitive disabilities, the stories shared at all sessions will be at a preschool level. The third-floor Community Room offers a quiet environment with reduced sensory stimuli.

This program is free and open to the public with advanced registration required as space is limited. As at all RHPL Storytimes, every child must have a parent or caregiver in attendance.  If you’ve been hesitant to try story time with your child, give All Abilities Kids a try.

For more information call the library and speak to Amy: 845-758-3241.
