Teens' Scriptwriting Week Grades 6+

July 9, 2018

This summer, join us for “Red Hook Grows Up,” a summer of fun with art and theater in partnership with Cocoon Theatre, made possible by a generous grant from the Ascienzo Family Foundation.

"Red Hook Grows Up" kicks off with a week of Teens' Scriptwriting Week Monday, July 9th through Friday July 13th from 2-4 pm for those in grades 6 and up (10 am - 12 pm Storytelling Studio for children in grades 3-5).

Cocoon Theater’s Marguerite San Millan will lead youths in creative discovery to see the connections between each other’s experiences of growing up. Children will interview community members and each other to develop narratives about growing up. For some that narrative may result in a skit, for others it may become lyrics to a song, or a poem or a story.

Storytelling Studio and Teens' Scriptwriting Week are the first week in a five-week series of studio workshops for children and teens that culminates in a final performance and art gallery show. Participants in Storytelling Studio or Teens' Scriptwriting Week may choose to sign up for just the single week, or for additional weeks as well. All Studio week participants are welcome to be a part of the final performance, if they are interested.

Free and open to the public with registration required. Call 845-758-3241 to register.
