I Heart Reading! Festival @Red Hook Masons

February 23, 2019

Join us 1-3PM, Saturday, February 23rd at the Red Hook Masonic Lodge for a celebration of reading and children’s books: I Heart Reading!

Come dressed up as your favorite character from a children’s book! Meet Jennifer Castle, the author of the books about Blaire, the 2019 American Girl doll; talk with illustrators; and ask questions of a retired graphic novelist. Meet the new Blaire doll and sign up to borrow her with your library card.

Children can add their words and drawings to a community graphic novel, get tips from artists, and have their books signed too. Stop by the Madhatter’s tea party for a little flamingo croquet and test your mettle with riddles, puzzles, mazes and games from favorite fantasy series - Harry Potter, Rick Riordan’s mythologies and the Amulet books too.

Oblong Books will be there and offering a 20% discount at the program. Megabrain Comics will have special deals on comics and graphic novels. Comic book artist Barbara Slate, who has worked with DC Comics and Marvel, and freelance illustrator, Diana Calio will also be joining in!

This event is free and open to the public. No registration necessary. The Red Hook Masonic Lodge is located at 9 Graves St in Red Hook.
