- The Friends of the Red Hook Public Library welcome you!
The Friends of the Red Hook Public Library are happy to report that 2014 brought us much success and helped make the library an even better place! The Children’s Learning Garden had its grand opening on Apple Blossom Day in the spring. Throughout the spring, summer and fall there were many programs and activities held outside, utilizing the space to the max!
As usual, the Friends took an active role in community events, celebrating Apple Blossom and Hardscrabble Day. We held many of our own events as well. Our second annual Plant Sale was coupled with a bake sale chockfull of yummy treats; we were also fortunate to assist the Red Hook Rotary in holding a giant book sale in the fall. Our annual Trivia Contest broke all records!
This fall we said a fond farewell to Frank and Loretta Campagna, dedicated members who were very involved with the library, as they retired and moved from the area. The library and the Friends will miss them dearly! Therefore, in the spirit of volunteering and giving back, we have dedicated ourselves in the upcoming year to recruiting new active members to help increase our participation in the community. New people bring fresh ideas and perspectives that help benefit the library. We ask you to consider donating your time, talent and expertise to our group. An hour or two of your time will make a world of difference in helping the Friends and the library flourish. Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of the month at 6:30 upstairs in the library—feel free to join us at any time! You can also sign up for our email newsletter to stay informed of volunteer opportunities and all of the fun events the Friends plan throughout the year.
Note this year that we have added a newly designated business membership. This gives the added tax advantage to our local businesses that we rely on so much throughout the year for donations and assistance. Please remember to shop locally and support our business neighbors.
For the second year in a row, the Red Hook Public Library has achieved a five-star rating by the Library Journal—an achievement that can make us all proud. If you don’t have a library card, the library staff will be glad to help you during open hours. The library continues to be an outstanding value and a jewel in our community. Thank you all for your support and your willingness to help us. Please use the enclosed envelope for membership, come to our meetings, and make new Friends. Help to continue to see our library grow and serve its patrons!
See you at the library!
