Storytelling Studio Grades 3-5

July 13, 2018

This summer, join us for “Red Hook Grows Up,” a summer of fun with art and theater in partnership with Cocoon Theatre, made possible by a generous grant from the Ascienzo Family Foundation.

"Red Hook Grows Up" kicks off with a week of Storytelling Studio from 10 am - 12 pm Monday, July 9th through Friday July 13th for children in grades 3-5 (2-4 pm for children grades 6 and up).

Cocoon Theater’s Marguerite San Millan will lead youths in creative discovery to see the connections between each other’s experiences of growing up. Children will interview community members and each other to develop narratives about growing up. For some that narrative may result in a skit, for others it may become lyrics to a song, or a poem or a story.

Storytelling Studio is the first week in a five-week series of studio workshops for children and teens that culminates in a final performance and art gallery show. Participants in Storytelling Studio may choose to sign up for just the single week, or for additional weeks as well. All Studio week participants are welcome to be a part of the final performance, if they are interested.

Free and open to the public with registration required. Call 845-758-3241 to register.
