Afternoon Book Group: When Breath Becomes AirAfternoon Book Group: When Breath Becomes Air – The Tuesday Afternoon Book Group will meet to discuss: When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi. The discussion will be held in the Children’s Learning Garden (weather permitting). A Zoom link option will be made available to anyone interested. *In the case of bad weather, and depending on transmission risk levels, discussion will either move indoors, or return to an exclusively Zoom format. The Defiance Project with Donna JeffressThe Defiance Project with Donna Jeffress – Inspired by Susan Stessin-Cohn & Ashley Hurlburt-Biagini's In Defiance: Runaways from Slavery in New York's Hudson River Valley, 1736-1831, The Defiance Project educates participants by humanizing and honoring the African people who toiled while enslaved, resisted as fugitives and ran for freedom in the Hudson Valley. Using a runaway notice, each participant will create a narrative and portrait of an enslaved individual who lived in Dutchess County. Gain a more thorough understanding of the present by learning a broader view of the past. This 5-class series of events will take place at Red Hook Public Library. Bollywood Fitness Dance Class (Virtual)Bollywood Fitness Dance Class (Virtual) – Join a member of Ajna, New York’s premier Indian Dance Company, for a free Bollywood fitness dance class over Zoom. Great for getting some exercise in, having some fun, and learning about the various dance styles in India. The class with be about half work-out and half educational. All skill levels are welcome! Outdoors Storytime with AmyOutdoors Storytime with Amy – Amy’s Storytime will be in the Children’s Garden at the library on Wednesdays. We share stories, sing and have fun. We use non-toxic materials and supply smocks, but it’s best to come prepared for a mess!
