2021 Annual Appeal
Help Support the Library!
Dear Red Hook Public Library Patron,
We are thankful to have made it through another challenging year and grateful to you for your ongoing support. Despite the pandemic, the Red Hook Public Library has proudly and faithfully continued to welcome and serve thousands of community patrons – children, teens, adults, students, seniors, and people of all abilities. This is our continued commitment to you.
And yet…while the Library has continued to host programs and keep our services and circulation thriving under these special circumstances, we remain financially challenged by state mandated increases to salaries, increasing utility and routine maintenance costs plus funding for capital improvements to our historic building. In passing, you may have noticed the Library façade is sorely in need of a new coat of stucco. Perhaps not as obvious, but equally important we must replace our roof and furnace sometime in the near future.
For the past two years, concerned about pandemic-related economic stress, the Library Board of Trustees made the difficult decision not to ask school district residents for an increase. In previous years, the Library has relied on these modest increases to keep the Library growing to meet increasing community demand for services. We have done our best to supplement programming, services, and collections with grant funding. However, grants for operations and maintenance are few and far between.
If you can, please make a tax deductible contribution to the Library. Your help goes a long way towards helping us serve others in the community who rely on us for recreation, programs and services, access to information, and quality materials. To make a gift online, please go to our website, click here, use the QR code below or send a check to the Red Hook Public Library, 7444 Broadway, Red Hook, NY 12571.
With much gratitude and hopes for a healthy and inspiring year ahead,
The Red Hook Public Library Board of Trustees
