Great Give Back

The Great Give Back is a community service initiative created by the Suffolk County Public Library Directors Association and the Suffolk Cooperative Library System, in conjunction with the Nassau Library System.

The mission of The Great Give Back is to provide a day of opportunities for the patrons of the Public Libraries of New York State to participate in meaningful, service-oriented experiences.

This year, the Red Hook Public Library will be collecting donations for the Grace Smith House.

Grace Smith House is a private nonprofit that provides residential and non-residential services to victims of domestic violence and their families. They offer shelter, transitional housing, advocacy, individual/group counseling, accompaniment, transportation, outreach and preventive education and more to residents of Dutchess County, NY.

RHPL will be collecting item donations. Note that monetary and clothing donations will NOT be accepted. The following are needed items:

Personal Hygiene:

Shampoo/conditioner (full-sized bottles)
Ethnic Hair Care
Body Wash
Toilet Paper
Kleenex

Food Items:

Rice
Pasta & Pasta Sauce
Canned vegetables, beans and fruit
All-purpose flour, sugars, artificial sweeteners
Mashed potato mix, canned potatoes
Mac & Cheese
Peanut butter, jelly/jam
Canned/boxed soups
Canned tuna & chicken
Breakfast cereals
Oatmeal
Pancake mix & syrup
Fruit, pudding, apple sauce cups
Granola bars, snack crackers, and other individually wrapped snacks
100% Juice boxes or pouches
Cake & muffin mixes, cake frosting, gelatin, pudding mix

Dish Soap
Cleaning supplies
Laundry detergent ​
Diapers (size 4 )
Towels, washcloths and twin bed sheets (new and unused)
Foldable Hampers
