All Abilities Kids Storytime

November 17, 2017

Red Hook Public Library is excited to announce our newest program in the All Abilities series. All Abilities Kids Storytime, debuts at 10:30 AM on Friday, Nov 17 in the library’s Community Room. Inspired by sensory storytimes at libraries and schools across the country, All Abilities Kids Storytime features stories told through multiple modalities with optional interactive elements. Using a visual schedule, we will have a story, as well as movement and song activities.

As parents and caregivers are the best judges of their children’s interests and abilities, All Abilities Kids has no age restrictions; however, the planned activities are designed to make storytime accessible to preschool-aged children with neuro-developmental difficulty and/or cognitive disabilities. The third-floor Community Room offers a quiet environment with reduced sensory stimuli.

This program is free and open to the public with advanced registration required as space is limited. As at all RHPL Storytimes, every child must have a parent or caregiver in attendance.

If you’ve been hesitant to try story time with your child, give All Abilities Kids a try.  For more information or to ask questions, ask to speak to Amy when you call the library at 845-758-3241.
