Fine Friends!

December 1, 2017

During the month of December, patrons at Red Hook Public Library may donate to Fine Friends, a program by which people can anonymously pay the fines of their neighbors.  For some of us, a library fine is a minor nuisance, but for others fines can be a barrier to access for themselves or their children. There are a thousand reasons why a patron’s late fees might build up, often including circumstances beyond anyone’s control. Unfortunately, some families may feel embarrassed by fines and, without the ability to easily repay them, avoid the library altogether.

December is the month of giving. By contributing to Fine Friends at the front desk, you can help ensure that the library remains an open resource to everyone, even when life throws us for a loop.
