Mock Caldecott Group

December 28, 2016

The best children's picture books marry captivating artwork with engaging language and it appeals to all ages. The Mock Caldecott Group will meet to study some of 2016’s best candidates for the annual Caldecott award. The group will consider narrative and artistic elements such as character, theme, plot, setting, line, space, color, shape, medium, style and composition and how they work together to tell a great story. At the end of the process they’ll select their own medal winner.

Official Caldecott winners are announced in early January 2017. The Caldecott Medal is awarded annually by the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the ALA, to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children.

This program is free and open the public. It is recommended for ages 13 through adult.
